Message: The Free State Chapter is sponsoring it’s 1st Annual Poker Run on Saturday, August 22, 2009 (Rain date Saturday, August 29, 2009). Registration will take place at Battley’s Cycles, formerly Rockville HD, between 0930 and 1130 hours. Kickstands up at 1130 hours. The event will begin at Battley’s Cycles and end at Barley & Hops Brewery in Frederick, Maryland. Battley Cycles is located at 7830 Airpark Rd. Gaithersburg, MD, 20879, (www.battley.com). It will consist of two stops in between. The first stop is at Dave’s American Bistro, Route 108 and Brookville Rd., Olney, MD. The second stop will be at the Woodbine Inn, 401 Woodbine Rd, Woodbine, Md., 21797. The ride culminates at the Barley & Hops Brewery, 5473 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.
The Route was carefully planned to avoid highway and congested roadways and consists of scenic country back roads with very few stops in between.
The cost to participate is $15 for a rider and $10 for pa**engers. Prizes will be awarded for best hand ($150), 2nd Best Hand ($100), Lowest/Worst Hand ($50), and a 50/50 Raffle.
Proceeds from our Poker Run will benefit Operation Second Chance (www.OperationSecondChance.org). Operation Second Chance is a not for profit 501 (c) 3 organization with a multi faceted mission consisting of:
1. Assistance with the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded service men and women.
2. Assisting in the modification of housing to accommodate disabled veterans.
3. Assisting the families of wounded service men and women.
4. Facilitating the transition of wounded service men and women back into civilian society.
We are hoping that you will lend your support and brotherhood to this worthy cause.
